Dell Inspiron 537s

Picture

History

Dell was started in Round Rock, Texas on November 4, 1984. Dell has been one of the early Windows Computer OEM's. They have made Windows computers since the 80's and still do to this day (during 2008 Dell did sell netbooks with Linux Ubuntu). Dell computers are known for the design, support, and overall performance of their computer. They sell PCs for the home, business, enterprise, and government sectors selling desktops, laptops, servers, and tablets. In 2011, Dell is the third largest PC manufacture.

Review

This desktop performs well enough that I can use it as a daily user. This desktop is ideal for a user that needs a computer with a punch.

PC Specifications

At the time it was shipped, it originally came with Vista then shipped with 7. They were sold from 2009-2010, and could run from a Celeron to a C2Q.

2.93GHz Intel Core 2 Duo e7500
4GB DDR2 RAM (Maxed Out)
320GB HDD with Recovery
Intel G41 Graphics
DVD Burner
Windows 7 Pro x64

The graphics are a bit under powered. Besides that, the Core 2 Duo holds up pretty well and uses highly intense apps like a breeze!

Performance in Windows 7?

Like the Gateway NV53 review, I will provide the Windows Experience Index, Geekbench, and a CPU-Z image.

From the three images above, we can see that It does well with WEI, Geekbench 32-bit benchmarks, and CPU-Z.
This computer still runs Windows 7, and is ready to handle some intense tasks, along with some fun stuff like Minecraft!

How well does it handle everyday applications?

Assuming that you do more than just look at emails and Wikipedia articles, and you do stuff like Photoshop, Sony Vegas, and Visual Studio, this Inspiron handles it seamlessly. It is better than a Pentium Dual Core, and a bit worse than my AMD 6-Core desktop. I use it as a daily computer, and it handles my DyNiForm needs without a doubt! I would imagine to see this desktop for the higher-end home user and college students.

Final Opinion

With the 537/537s replacing the 530/530s series, the 537s brings in a new colorful design, lots of power, and gets the job done. I use my Inspiron as a summer computer, only because my custom built generates too much heat, only good for winter. My 537s has seen times were it would render a 10 minute HD 720p video in 18 minutes, and debugging the next release of MobiText, overall, it handles well.

Reviews should have real pictures, right? Well I have some!

Pricing & How to Buy

If you think the Inspiron 537s can fit your needs, even today, they are out there. Dell still refurbishes them. I received this Inspiron free (had grape juice spilled in it, I needed a new PSU) so I don't have a retail price on this 537s. Tigerdirect has them refurbised as well, but not the slim 537s, only the 537. The 537 has all the same specs, just in a full tower sized case.
