The First MobiText 1.1 Bug...

8/27/2012

I found this out today while installing the update to 30 or so computers today that we have a bug, and that has to do with the file extensions. The first time you run MobiText, it associates a new dword for the extension .mtxt, and when you install the update under a computer where you don't have 100% admin rights, it wont write to the registry, giving users an error every time.

We'll be out with a fix here soon.

Server Downtime

So, from what I know, the server was off about 9am to 4pm today. The reason is unknown. I only knew cause at school my email inbox flooded with emails letting me know it was down.

Anyhow, it is back online, and you can go download MobiText 1.1!

So, The Updates for Today

I'll start off by saying we only got MobiText out, unfortunately. As much as we wanted to get XML, Files, and DT-Info out, I guess those get to wait until the "Halloween Update." Either way, I think you will like the revisions to this new update, there is a ton of work in it, and by that I mean the reason we didn't get any other apps released.

We will eventually!

New XXX to XP Pack

8/25/2012

Currently, we have the 8/7 to XP Pack that converts a user's 8/7 PC into a Windows XP lookalike. One edition of XP Microsoft released is called Windows FLP (Fundamentals For Legacy PCs). It is based off XP Embedded, and is cut down to the extreme so it could be run on 98 computers. With this future pack, it will bring all the good stuff from XP into FLP. Stay Tuned!

Is Windows 7 the new XP?

Well, I think it's going to be. Back when XP was released, not too many people bought it. After SP2, Windows XP could have been released as a Second Edition. When Microsoft shipped Windows Vista in early 2007, some customers backlashed it and bought a Windows XP PC (up until June 2008 for retail, MS sold netbooks with XP Home up until October 22, 2010). I remember my school didn't upgrade Windows 2000 to XP computers until 2009! Now at my high school Windows 7 has just been deployed, and Windows 7 also brings in the things Vista should have been. I know some customers are going to not want Windows 8 on their desktops (good examples would be family) and Microsoft will end up selling Windows 7 alongside 8 just like the Vista/XP deal.

Either way, if you like Windows 7 don't upgrade. Your even supported till 2020!

How do you get software in the Windows Store? Well you can't unless you attend a coding "Clinic"

Recently (sometime last weekend) I was going to start publishing both desktop and Metro applications to the Windows Store. I filled out my info and had a credit card ready for the $50 they were asking for, until I found out I needed to attend one of Microsoft's "Coding Clinics" before I could get a activation code to get an account (which was also a problem, all these "Clinics" were too far away anyways). I talked to a Microsoft Rep and they said early developers need to do this.

Either way Microsoft, You lost a developer due to your regulations and not allow a company with applications to be added for the store.

If you've been looking around the site lately, you may see some new little things, such as a favicon, and a new bar on the bottom that replaced the (C)2012 DyNiForm. All rights reserved with a now cleaner appearance, better positioning, and links to other DyNiForm sites. Also, a new DyNiForm logo has been made. Images below!

Server's been Offline...

Over in California... there is a big fire called Chips Fire. It was human caused, and has now burnt 42,225 acres of forest, and only 20% contained. In path of the fire, is 2 of PG&E's 60,000 volt towers. Every time PG&E thinks they should cut it, they do. So, since last Friday, the powers been out for over 14 hours so far. Yesterday, it went out, came on 5 seconds later, then went out again. This time it went out about 4:50pm. It didn't come on until around 12:40am today. PG&E's power is still cut, but they spent 7 hours switching lines for power by Honey Lake Power. So that's the story.

Server is back online, and if something stops it in these next few weeks, its Power Outages.

Windows 8's Review is Done!

8/15/2012

Took many many hours to get it finished. One of the delays is the fact Microsoft didn't add Windows 8 to MSDN until 10:00AM, and then due to problems I couldn't even get a hold of it for another hour and a half.

Either way, I hope it's a good read for those curious!
